Ms. Yuko Arimori
Former professional marathon runner, Founder of NPO Heart of Gold, President of Special Olympics Nippon, CEO of RIGHTS. Inc.

Yuko Arimori devoted her life to marathon running and won a Silver Medal at the Barcelona Olympics and a Bronze Medal at the Atlanta Olympics. The Japanese Amateur Athletic Federation granted her professional status in 1996, making her the first woman runner to achieve this. She retired from professional running in 2007, and founded an NPO called Heart of Gold to encourage victims of disasters and civil war in Cambodia. Her contributions to society go beyond the field of sports and she has worked to educate people on preventing HIV/AIDS and International Studies. She wants to tell children in Cambodia that they will be successful if they never give up. In 2010 she was the first Japanese woman to be awarded the Women’s Sports award by the International Olympic Committee.
