7.24(Tue) Luncheon Seminar with Mr. Tsuyoshi Tane<br>“Archaeology of the Future”

For our July luncheon seminar, we will welcome Mr. Tsuyoshi Tane, one of Japan's rising stars in the field of Architecture.

In 2006, at the young age of 26, Mr. Tane's team won the First Prize in the international design competition for the Estonian National Museum. The museum which opened in 2016 after 10 years of an arduous project, embodies the memories of Estonia's history, people and places to future of its country. It is built as an extension of the runway of a former Soviet military airbase, and is also equipped with cutting-edge information systems technology matching Estonia's reputation as a high-tech nation. This museum introduces a potential and innovative system for future museum designs.

Mr. Tane's work is also currently on display at Mori Art Museum's "Japan in Architecture: Genealogies of its Transformation."

During the seminar, the world-renowned Mr. Tane will discuss the potential and future of Japanese architecture.


Profile:

Tsuyoshi Tane is a Japanese architect based in Paris. He has started Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects in 2017 after co-founder of DGT Architects in 2006 and working experience in London, Denmark and Japan. Through a series of award-winning projects and building such as Estonian National Museum, Kofun Stadium of Japanese Olympic 2020, LIGHT is TIME and many others. Tsuyoshi is recognized as one of the emerging architects in new generation for designing architecture that are belongs to a memory of place that can connect its past to the future as his concept - “Archaeology of the Future”. Tsuyoshi has received numerous awards and honours, including the French Ministry of Culture Architecture Prize, French Architects Overseas Grand Prix, Estonian Cultural Endowment Grand Prix, nomination for the European Union Mies van der Rohe Award 2017 and 67th Japanese Ministry new face Award of Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts. He is frequently giving public speaks and lectures and he has been teaching at the Columbia University GSAPP and ESVMD.
