To commemorate our 100th luncheon seminar at the Club, we are joined by a very special guest, Mr. Hiroshi Mikitani, Chairman and CEO of Rakuten, Inc. and Representative Director of the Japan Association of New Economy, or JANE.
Mr. Mikitani was a key driver behind the creation of the Japan e-business Association in 2010, which became JANE in 2012. Proactively advocating for change in public policy and holding regular special events, JANE aims to contribute to the growth of the Japanese economy by promoting the progressive use of new technologies, ideas, and business models to develop new markets, economies, and industries – without being beholden to existing concepts and frameworks. The three pillars of JANE’s activities also form the topic for this luncheon seminar: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Globalization.
Mr. Mikitani is also CEO of Rakuten, Inc., which is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its founding this year. His reputation for trailblazing in e-business is well-established here in Japan, and his discussion will provide insight as to where Japan’s future lies, as society is transformed by the fourth industrial revolution. We hope you will join us for this particularly topical and informative discussion.
