Roppongi - a town in constant change. With the birth of Roppongi Hills Club, we see the beginning of a new epoch. The club, not one to stand on tradition, is itself constantly changing. Roppongi Hills Club teems with fresh ideas and stimulating exchange. Roppongi Hills Club aims to be a place of open communication between its members and guests from all backgrounds. It functions as a forum where global thought and sensibilities abound, a place with the ability to inspire lively conversations that transcend the limitations of one's work or generation.
Even before its actual opening the Club, evolution began to take place. It changed like a living body, with a pledge to always keep people at its center, its core. The word that best describes the Club now is "symposion." A Greek word, symposion originally meant "coming together to eat, drink and talk." It is the origin of the word "symposium," often translated as "round-table discussion." Now, as the Club becomes infused with life, the symposion begins and becomes the focal point of global networking in Japan.
The symposion is a thing of beauty, encouraging people to enter into free and open exchange. When there is beauty, people instinctively desire to join together. People want to be near a person who radiates an inner beauty; they want to be near beautiful cities, beautiful buildings, beautiful food and drink. People want to be near all types of beauty, beauty arising from a variety of different "energies." When people share in beauty, they allow themselves to become lost in conversation and to lose all sense of time. This is something one takes for granted at private get-togethers, but even when people gather in a business setting, the exchange is livelier and more stimulating in the midst of beauty.
When people from different walks of life and of different generations come together, there is born a wisdom through their interaction and exchange.
